Habitat Holiday Open House

Posted December 16, 2007 9:39:45 PM

Habitat for Humanity of Blount County celebrated its 15th anniversary on Thursday, December 13 at its new facility, the Habitat Professional Building, formerly the Sterling Engineering Building.

Blount County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Tony Gibbons (left) with Herb Meyer (right), the first president of the Board of Directors. Gibbons said Meyer has been instrumental in putting together historical documents, photos and information used to create displays in the new Habitat Professional Building located at 1017 Hampshire Drive in Maryville.

Christina Reagan and her children Dylan (on mom's lap), Emilia (far left) and Briona will be receiving a house from Blount County Habitat. The Reagan family has just begun the Habitat process, which will take about a year to complete. Participating families attend classes and put hundreds of hours of "sweat equity" into building their Habitat home.

Ron Hanby (left) and Chad England (right) enjoy the holiday open house at the new Habitat Professional building. Hanby is the Construction Supervisor for all Habitat projects; England is an Inside Sales representative for Andersen Lumber Company.

Kathy Jackson (left) talks with Kelly and Charlie Sterling. Jackson spearheaded the organization efforts for the holiday open house at the new Habitat Professional Building. The Sterlings are the previous owners of the new facility and led the way in helping Habitat for Humanity purchase the building. A remodeled conference room in the facility will be named in their honor. Other rooms are also available for sponsorship opportunities.
